Old Center Elementary

Old Center Elementary found itself without room to serve the community around it. While the school did its best with the numerous portables at the rear of the school, along with an undersized and outdated kitchen, more permanent solutions were needed to serve the future growth of the Goodlettsville community. MNPS engaged HMKA to expand the school providing much needed classroom and enrichment space, along with a modern kitchen that gives the school room to grow. The addition also includes the first peer-reviewed ICC 500 compliant storm shelter in Metro Nashville, as necessitated by the adoption of the 2018 IBC. The site is located adjacent to a Metro Fire Station, requiring close coordination with Fire Department staff throughout design and construction.
